Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Khabib Nurmagomedov left the United States due to the spread of coronavirus. This was reported to TASS by the athlete's Manager Rizvan Magomedov.
According to the athlete's representative, all members of Nurmagomedov's team returned to Russia. The American Kickboxing Academy hall in San Jose, where the fighters worked, is closed by the decision of local authorities.
On April 19, Khabib is scheduled to meet American Tony Ferguson in the octagon. The UFC lightweight title is at stake. Due to the situation with the coronavirus, the fight is under threat of failure. In particular, it is currently unknown where the fight will take place: the promotion was banned from organizing it in new York and Las Vegas.
The head of UFC Dayna white repeatedly expressed confidence that Nurmagomedov and Ferguson's fight will take place. In an interview on March 20, the functionary called people who criticize him "squelches" and"bores".
